DEBBIE & THE MILLBANKS
BLUE MATTER RECORDS. LOBE 016
RELEASE DATE: TBA

When Debbie Saloman returned home from university in Manchester, she settled back into London life. She’s always been a fantastic singer, so, with a little help from her ageing parent (Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond), she got a band together and started gigging round London. This band was called DEBBIE DUVEEN & THE MILLBANKS. The line-up included Nick on guitar, Paul Simmons on guitar, Ade Shaw on bass and Jules Fenton on drums. In 2010 they went into Gold Dust Studios in Bromley to record an album with Dave Palmer at the controls. Nick wrote a bunch of songs for the album, and once it had been finished and mixed, it sounded really good. So, in late 2010 it was released on Woronzow Records as a CD only, entitled ‘Neon Classic’. Like so many things, it didn’t do a lot of damage to the charts, or indeed to much else. Since that time, Deb has got married (she’s now Debbie Wileman), had a kid, and become an internationally acclaimed singer. Her speciality is as a Judy Garland tribute act, and this has seen her performing to a sold out Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, and moreover in her own shows at New York’s Carnegie Hall (twice) and the legendary club, Birdland. We thought it might be an exciting idea to let her adoring public hear what she was doing 15 years ago. So, with Deb’s approval, we are reissuing the album. It’s going to make its first appearance on vinyl. It’s been remastered (by Dave Palmer of course) and it comes in a newly designed sleeve, and it sounds amazingly good. It’s now simply entitled ‘DEBBIE & THE MILLBANKS’, and it’s a genuine pleasure to see this lovely album, full of catchy power pop, fronted by a stunning vocalist, making its long overdue reappearance. Give it a listen, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
